WD-40 Company


Mission Statement
WD-40 Company seeks to define, develop and communicate its commitment to community service. WD-40 Company will sponsor and support projects and programs that improve the quality of life in the communities we serve and where our employees live and work. WD-40 is committed to community relations through the application of financial and human resources.

Areas of Focus:
  • Education - the area of education is generally placed high on the list of priorities. Specifically, in the area of education, they support:
  1. Scholarships for academic excellence for higher education.
  2. Enrichment and mentoring programs that provide academic, social and cultural activities for healthy and responsible lifestyles.
  3. Public and private education (K-12, colleges and universities).
  4. Programs that encourage parent involvement, and help students stay in school.
  5. Programs that focus on the use of technology in the classroom.
  6. Partnerships supporting student retention, job training/retraining programs.
  • Health & Human Care
  • Community Development - Community Youth General
  • Arts and Culture - not a primary focus, but will be supported "from time-to-time."
Requirements:
  • Organizations must strive to maintain or improve the quality of life in the community and address specific community needs
Exclusions:
  • Political organizations and candidates
  • Labor groups
  • Commercial for-profit enterprises
  • Religious or sectarian organizations (unless they are a non-profit organization whose primary role is to address specific community needs)
  • Any group whose activities are not in the best interest of WD-40 Company, its affiliates, employees, shareholders, customers, or the communities they serve.
  • Golf tournaments
  • Dinner tables for gala events
Deadline
Applications are accepted year-round. They are generally reviewed in January and June of each year.

A separate proposal is required for each request. Application should be brief and include the following:
  • Organizations name, street address and contact person.
  • A brief description of the organization, including its objectives, accomplishments and current programs.
  • Specific reason for the request and the amount requested.
  • List of officers, board of directors or principals in the organization.
  • Financial statements (with first year applying, subsequent years when requested by WD-40 Company).
  • List of significant contributors and partners.
  • In the U.S., tax identification number and verification of tax status from the IRS under Section 501 (c) (3).
  • If applicable, list of prior grants from WD-40 Company, specifying dates, amounts and where funds were allocated.
  • Percentage of funds used for administration costs and used for charitable services.
